Water

What Is water?
Water is a common and essential chemical substance we use in our everyday lives. Water is a combination of two simple and ordinary elements—a dipolar molecule, consisting of two positively-charged hydrogen (H) atoms and a negatively-charged oxygen (O) atom. The formula H2O is simple, but the structure and characteristics of water is complex.

Hard water
The hardness of water is determined by the amount of calcium and magnesium it contains. A high number means hard water; a low number is soft water.

Hardness in °dH Characteristic
0 - 4 Very soft
4 - 8 Soft
8 - 12 Medium hard
12 - 18 Rather hard

ML Humidification
ML System products require soft water. In most cases you will have to treat water before converting it to mist, choosing one of the methods which can be supplied by Husson Inc.

Water conditioning (AQA): Reduces the build-up of minerals on the nozzle orifice and reduces maintenance on the system. However you will get some dusting from mineral deposits.

Reverse Osmosis (RO) water: RO takes out about 98% of minerals in the water. Mineral dusting is so minute it will not cause any problems in most industries.

Deinonized (DI) water: Ultra clean treatment with extremely low total dissolved solid (TDS) content for highly demanding environments.

Hygiene

HACCP
HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point) is an internationally-approved procedure for systematically creating a safe hygiene control system. HACCP is used worldwide in food processing companies, healthcare facilities and other settings where reliable hygiene systems and proof of successful hygiene procedures are required.

HACCP was developed by NASA in the 1960s to ensure high food quality and reliable hygiene standards for foodstuffs used in the US space program.

If you are in food or drug industries or wish more information on HACCP and demanding hygiene standards for humidification, please contact us.

For non-food and non-drug industries, ML’s HACCP certification gives assurance that all ML products are produced in a secure and hygienically controlled way so the system will not be the cause of health risks.

Water quality standards
At this time, there are few government regulations on water quality in water used for humidification purposes. Regulations applicable to drinking water are usually not applicable, since water is evaporated into the air, rather than being consumed.

Our standard industrial systems are designed and built to ensure delivery of water which meets the demanding drinking water standards specified by the EPA.

Consumer Safety
ML humidification provided by Husson will provide a system which is safe to operate, and will provide the end user with a detailed System Manual containing instructions on installation, safe operation, maintenance and trouble-shooting the system.

However, to ensure safe operations, it is the responsibility of the end user to carefully follow all instructions outlined in the System Manual.
